| Description: | Jill Rickel, M.S. of Ft. Lauderdale, FL announces the opening of her educational consulting practice, Academic Options, Inc. Jill received her B.S. in Psychology from University of Miami, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa. She went on to Nova Southeastern University to complete an M.S. in Counseling Psychology and began conducting individualized counseling for children and adolescents. While raising her own three children, Jill spent several years as a math tutor specializing in Statistics for graduate level students. In 1998, Jill joined College Living Experience in Davie, FL as a math and psychology tutor, then quickly moved on to create and implement the financial skills portion of the program. In 2002, Jill became the Admissions Coordinator responsible for all recruiting, intakes, interviewing, and the acceptance process. It was then that she fell in love with "helping special needs students and their families understand the post-secondary options available to them and seeing their joy as they discovered that the future could be brighter then ever imagined". When CLE began its mission to expand nationally, Jill was named the National Director of Admissions, where she was instrumental in the development of a national admission office and the opening of two new sites. Jill's decision to move from admissions to education consulting is to enable her to remain in a position to work directly with students and families. Academic Options, Inc. will specialize in college counseling and post-secondary placement for students with learning differences. |
