| Description: | Our mission is to provide quality rehabilitative, therapeutic and educational services for children and families. We maintain a commitment to carrying forth this mission in collaboration with other private, charitable and governmental organizations. Our organization is the oldest, continuously operated children's residential program in Idaho. We operate two campuses - serving up to 80 children at a time. Our Lewiston Campus has 4 residential treatment programs for up to 68 children ages 6 to 18, and our Nampa campus has 1 residential treatment program for up to 12 girls ages 12 to 17. (Stay tuned, we are in the process of breaking ground for our brand new 24-bed Syringa House in Nampa!) A child who has been removed from their original family home because of abuse, abandonment or neglect is referred to the Children's Home through collaborative efforts on behalf of state-run agencies, the judicial system and social service agencies. Often, our residents have been in and out of foster care homes without success. Attachment disorders are common with our children. These disorders are sometimes an insurmountable challenge in a foster home. But as a residential treatment facility with clinical and therapeutic staff, we are often better equipped to help a child sort through these challenges. In addition to our residential treatment programs we provide accredited education for all our kids. We operate several private, special purpose schools serving students not only from our own residential treatment programs, but also from the local area school districts in the Lewis-Clark Valley, as well as Treasure Valley in Southern Idaho. Over 150 students are served through these programs. Additionally, our family-centered Community-Based Services programs reach over 100 clients every year in southern Idaho. These services are extended to children and families in their own homes to create a stable and nurturing home environment. It is through our unique approach combining therapeutic treatment, education and counseling that we are changing the lives of the children and the families in our communities. |
