Academics:Many of the children we serve have fallen behind in school, this poses a problem for them especially if they are in 11th grade and have a 5th grade reading level. That is why all students receive Academic Achievement Testing so that an Individual Education Plan can be created for them.

Re-Creation Retreat uses the American School cirriculum which is accredited by the North Central Association of Accredited Schools. This school is recognized for promoting and maintaining a well-balanced education program and for meeting or exceeding standards considered essential for quality education.
Through a complete educational process that combines both "Formal Academics" and "Life Skills" education each student learns the tools necessary to live a successful and fulfilling life. They learn to take pride in their accomplishments and they learn to work with others in home, workplace, classroom and community settings.
Formal Academics
During the orientation period of the student's stay they will be assessed and assigned an IAP (Individual Academic Plan). Each student's IAP is tailored to their specific needs. Assessment includes review of school records, therapeutic assessments, personal interviews and input from parents and family counselors. The student's educational and career goals are taken into consideration where appropriate.
A state accredited teacher is assigned to work one-on-one with the student to accomplish the goals set out in their IAP. Course completion is based on mastery of course objectives rather than "seat time". By working with the teacher in a one-on-one setting the student is able to "make up for lost time" due to lack of performance in their prior academic setting and students are able to graduate and attend local formal graduation ceremonies receiving their High School Diploma. Curriculum includes Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Language Arts, as well as a variety of other core and elective course subjects. Because we utilize a one-on-one student/teacher setting, each student can begin their course studies immediately upon enrollment in our program.
Life Skills
Learning Life Skills and developing a healthy work ethic is vital to the student's progress in the program as well as being necessary for the student to be successful later in Life. As part of their Life Skills education each student is given instruction in many areas.

CPR/First Aid Training
HIV/Aids Awareness

Randy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20 years experience working with children, adolescents and families in both residential and out patient settings. Randy has 13 years of administrative, supervisory experience of out patient treatment teams and served as the Program Director of a Federally funded childrens mental health grant to improve mental health services to youth and their families. Randy has worked closely with several therapeutic boarding schools providing individual and group counseling to the youth, clinical supervision to the clinical director and therapists and clinical consultation to the owners and clinical directors.
Randy enjoys working with youth and helping them to see who they really are and their potential to become anything they can dream to be! Randy has many years of experience working with adult and adolescent women who have experienced abuse, trauma and substance abuse. Randy is also a Level I Certified Equine Assisted Therapist.
Randy and his wife Toni are the parents of five children. One son and four daughters. The motivation for Re-Creation Retreat came from the personal experience of helping one of their daughters through a very abusive dating relationship. As they attempted to help their daughter, they were amazed at the difficulty dealing with the legal system, the educational system and the well meaning but uninformed community in which they lived. Due to the lack of knowledge about abuse and its dynamics and a lack of resources it was a challenge to get their daughter the help she needed and to find support for themselves as parents.
As a result, Randy and Toni have founded Re-Creation Retreat. A private school for girls with the mission of helping young women Re-Create their lives around true principles leading to a correct understanding of who they “really are” and who they “can be”. Re-Creation Retreat is a resource for parents who are at the point of not knowing what to do to help their daughter who may be making poor decisions, failing in school, involved in unhealthy relationships and/or just defying parental authority.

Clayton and Krystal are the parents of two beautiful daughters.
