Our staff receive on going training in a variety of areas that provide them with the knowledge necessary to be effective in assisting youth in their educational and therapeutic endeavors. Storm Ridge is a 16 bed facility in rural Utah. We also operate a 14 bed facility in Marysvale, Utah called Storm Ridge South. Storm Ridge Ranch is designed as a “Working Ranch Operation”. This structure, coupled with the facilities small town rural location provides the backdrop for the development of healthy values such as a strong work ethic, responsibility, commitment, accountability, teamwork, and social skills. An integral part of the Storm Ridge Program is the involvement that the youth have with the “Ranch” . The youth are expected to participate in the everyday running of the ranch including the care and upkeep of animals and livestock, horticultural activities, as well as general upkeep and maintenance. The Family-like atmosphere of the Ranch promotes the development of many strong values and tools that the youth can use in their own families. The support that this structure provides also helps to give the youth a sense of belonging and contributes to healthy self-esteem and assists in building confidence. Students are given responsibilities within the structure that provide opportunities to fulfill court obligations such as work hours, court restitution, and fines. Through this they also receive valuable vocational training that will assist them when entering the workplace. Although the average length of stay is 6-9 months, the student ultimately determines how they choose to progress through the program. As the student progresses through the program they will move through a level system that is designed to reward the student as well as providing them with a means for recognizing personal growth and achievement. |
