| Academics: | Timber Ridge School is approved as a special education facility. Their instructional programs meet the needs of emotionally disturbed and learning disabled students. They are licensed by the Virginia Interdepartmental Office for the Regulation of Children's Facilities and they meet the Special Education standards. We are accredited by the Virginia Association of Specialized Education Facilities and by the National Council for the Accreditation of Special Education Services. | Activities: | Arts & crafts, football, Basketball, Soccer, Track and Wrestling. Hiking, backpacking, fishing, camping, canoeing, and cycling. Timber Ridge School has a chartered Boy Scout Troop for the benefit of students enrolled in the school. |
| Counseling: | Individual, group, and family counseling is offered to all students enrolled. These services are provided by our staff of clinical counselors, all of whom are licensed or certified by agencies of the Commonwealth of Virginia. |
| Campus: | Living in a dormitory. |
| Family Involvement: | Partners in Planning. Family involvement starts at admission. The family participates with us in writing the student's Individualized Service Plan. The family and our staff begin to work together to adjust to the youth's placement at Timber Ridge. |

| Specialties: | Since 1971, Timber Ridge School has operated continuously serving seriously emotionally disturbed and behaviorally disordered adolescent boys. The school is a charter member of VAISEF, the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. Since the inception of the VAISEF accreditation program, recognized by the Virginia Board of Education through the Virginia Council on Private Education, Timber Ridge School has maintained accreditation at the highest level. After a student leaves Timber Ridge School, continued support is provided on an individually determined basis. This includes such elements as family counseling, family support groups, telephone consultation, etc. All are designed to make sure that the hard work done by the student continues to be shown in the community. |
