Director Name:Laurie Zeiser
Enroll Info:100 Students total. Enrolls new students in September and January. Decisions on admittance are based on an applicant's record, intellectual curiosity and motivation. We look for students who will participate fully in the school community and its values.Candidates are encouraged to apply early for both fall and January enrollment. Currently, applicants are considered on a rolling basis as space permits.
Student Profile:Students seeking a successful educational experience.
Academics:The Learning Assistance Program (LAP) is designed as additional college preparatory support for those students (approximately 25 student) who have been diagnosed with a specific learning disability or academic difficulties because of a lack of organization and/or study skills. LAP students do receive individual tutorials, yet are integrated into the mainstream classroom, so they must be able to undertake a challenging college preparatory curriculum.
Activities:Skiing, biking, climbing mountains, navigating rivers by canoe or kayak, or hiking wilderness trails. Soccer in the fall and lacrosse in the spring for both women and men.hiking and fitness, rock and ice climbing, road and mountain biking, whitewater and flatwater canoeing, Aikido, and dance. Our indoor climbing wall and fitness center offers state-of-the-art nautilus equipment, a running track, and basketball hoops.
Campus:Our campus is nestled within woodlands and fields in a rural setting only minutes away from the nearest restaurants, medical services and shopping. All dorms, classrooms, the indoor climbing and nautilus center, theater and other school buildings are within easy walking distance of each other, as are trails and a pond. Our nearly 250-acres provide plenty of room to walk, run, take a bike ride or just enjoy the solitude. Our "Great Hall" is the heartbeat of campus, where morning readings, presentations and other events are held. Having a fireplace to curl up to during the winter months complements this warm community space.
Length of Stay: 1 year minimum
Philosophy:We believe that a successful educational experience is as dependent on developing the student's understanding of the world and feeling for the environment, as it is on nurturing the best possible learning environment for students to learn and grow.

Financial Assistance:WMS understands that not all families are able to afford the annual cost of an independent school education. A student's financial situation has no bearing on his/her admission to The White Mountain School. Financial aid is awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need, which is evaluated after the student has been accepted.
Staff:Our faculty cares deeply about the academic and emotional development of every student. Our 1:4 teacher/student ratio means that we know everyone's name and know how every student is doing - in the classroom, in the dorms, and in the outdoors. Our faculty is committed to excellence in learning and to our students' personal growth.
Specialties:Founded in 1886, the School's modern history began in 1936 when it moved from Concord to Bethlehem.
