| Counseling: | The heart of Falcon Ridge is our premier Equine Assisted Psychotherapy which sets us above all others. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an experiential learning component of the Falcon Ridge Ranch Program. Sessions are a collaborative effort between a licensed therapist, equine specialist, horse, and student. Metaphors and analogies help students identify their positive and negative behaviors. We build on healthy values and explore how to change harmful attitudes through horses. Practice in relationship building with a horse strengthens relationships with others. Curriculum at Falcon Ridge is enhanced through our Equine Program. We offer alternating classes, Cowboy Poetry and Equine Science, which provide additional interaction and learning with horses. Horsemanship and Leadership is taught to enhance physical skills and motivate positive change. Benefits of Our Equine Program: •Respect for self and others •Improved communication and social skills •Boundary setting •Empathy towards others •Self control and confidence •Responsibility and accountability •Problem solving and cooperation •Honesty and trust •Overcoming challenges in a non threatening atmosphere Horses provide an excellent way for students to experience the open air. Equine therapy provides students with skills of patience, self-confidence, trust, and compassion. Learning to trust a 1000 pound horse provides an excellent way in which youth can overcome personal barriers. Parents also get involved in learning about the therapy with horses. They learn the proper way to lead a horse. Should a pull, push, let the horse go free? These questions will be answered as well as comparing the horse to their child. Learning the best way to lead a horse will provide an unforgettable experience and relation to the best way to lead a child. Our equine therapeutic treatment program is the center of our care. Whether your daughter has little or no experience with horses, EAP offers an exiting, fun, and therapeutic approach at changing lives. A horse communicates on 100% body language. Learning to watch and listen for this body language will help our students watch and listen for similar language among their peers, parents, and families. If you have any questions regarding our Equine Assisted Therapy program please call our fill out our contact form. See equine-psychotherapy.com for additional equine assisted learning information. Additionally, Our Therapy Program is designed to help students indentify problem behaviors and build inner-strength to overcome challenges. Effective communication skills are developed and positive coping strategies learned. Falcon Ridge Ranch uses a multi-therapeutic model. Specific treatment modalities include: Group Therapy consists of a minimum of ten small group sessions weekly. These groups include substance abuse, problem solving, positive peer culture, emotional management, Safe Dates, and specialty groups designed for specific treatment needs. All group processes foster emotional growth in a safe and confidential setting. Individual Therapy is provided to each student with a minimum of one session weekly. Sessions help students gain insight into behavior and establish a trusting relationship with their counselor. In this setting, students process issues too sensitive for them to share with a group. Substance Abuse and Addiction Treatment is specifically designed to address the intra-personal and family issues that fuel adolescent addiction. Recovery is facilitated through group therapy, AA/NA meetings, community meetings, and co-dependence groups that follow a twelve step format. Family Therapy is provided via weekly teleconference. Parents contribute to treatment as an integral part of the program. Falcon Ridge encourages families to visit during planned family weekends. Family and students meet with their primary counselor for therapy. Parents and children also participate in parent support groups, parent-teacher conferences, workshops, and graduation ceremonies. |

| Family Involvement: | Family involvement is a vital ingredient to the success of each girl's program. Experience has shown when a family is actively involved in their daughter's treatment, the likelihood of a positive experience and long-term success is greatly magnified. Students and parents must work together through the healing process. Our case manager provides parents ongoing opportunities to engage in every aspect of the program. From the arrival of a student at Falcon Ridge Ranch, the case manager maintains communication between home and the program. Progress reports are sent to families every 45 days, beginning after admission. These reports make it possible for families to stay updated on treatment progress as well as understand the program structure. Academic and therapeutic progress is reported in detail. If a family has questions or concerns, they are encouraged to contact the case manager. Along with reports, weekly phone calls prepare families for visitations, therapy sessions, and reunification upon completion of the program. Families are invited to attend structured family weekends every eight weeks. These weekends give families an opportunity to confront issues, provide therapeutic activities, and bring resolution. Our family weekends have a stabilizing and healing effect on the entire family. Families meet and support other families in similar situations. A common bond is created as they each work towards their own family unity. |
