| Student Profile: | Young girls who may have failed in many other treatment placements. Many teens placed have histories of self-destructive behavior, may have been abused or neglected, adopted then relinquished, or involved in gangs and cults. |
| Academics: | Excelsior Youth Center has an accredited (North Central Association accredited curriculum) middle and high school on its campus with an outstanding teaching staff. The Colorado Department of Education certifies every teacher; most are certified in Special Education. |
| Activities: | Vocational training programs include a licensed Cosmetology School, Office Skills Procedures, Bicycle Maintenance and Repair, and Graphic Design. Students participate in interscholastic high school athletics in basketball and volleyball. |
| Counseling: | Treatment methods include individual and group therapy, family counseling, and peer group interaction. All therapies are carried out within a framework of Reality Therapy principles that stress individual responsibility for one's own actions and management of behavior. |
