Description:Our mission is to provide a loving, wholesome Christian home for children who are separated from their parents for one reason or another, and to help them establish long-term relationships with stable parental figures.
The basic goal is to provide for the emotional, social, physical, educational, and spiritual support for the children, so they may learn to manage their own affairs along with maximizing the development of their potential, abilities and interests. The ultimate goal is to facilitate a child's development to voluntarily leave the Home and function within a community environment in a style that is both meaningful and purposeful to himself or herself, as well as the community

Student Profile:The entry ages of children we accept are between 5 and 15. Exceptions to this are considered on a case-by-case basis. Once a child has been placed, he/she must live at our Home for a minimum of one year and may stay as long as they like - even through college. Children are accepted regardless of race, gender or national origin. Sunshine Acres is a Home and we treat the children as our own. We always welcome visits from former children and their families, as our greatest joy is hearing of their success in life.
Academics:small school on site, or public school depending on skill level
Activities:One of the important keys to our success has been keeping our children busy with programs that are enjoyable while building character and self esteem. Activities that also help teach responsibility, teamwork and commitment
Counseling:IS offered to residents only. BOth Christian and Master level
Family Involvement:Hope tht the family will be re-united, but family is not involved
Length of Stay:Minimum 1 year
Financial Assistance:The home is primarily financed by private donations. Some contributions are given through the United Way, family estates, corporate, and memorial gifts. All gifts, whether they be large or small, are deeply appreciated. We do not receive any financial support from the Federal, State, or City Governments for care of the children. All donations are tax deductible.
Tuition/Costs:Sliding scale ased on ability to pay.

No child is turned away for financial reasons. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to participate financially in the child's care. Placement fees are determined on an individual basis.
