| Description: | Milestones is a 6 to 18 month program for young men and women who have reached their 18th birthdays and need support to transition to adulthood. Participants receive academic guidance as they go to college or vocational training -- and complete high school if necessary. They learn career skills and hold a job. They are taught life skills and practice these in supervised independent living. |

| Student Profile: | Milestones participants are transferring from an emotional growth experience, a traditional boarding school, or are experiencing difficulties in transitioning into college. Completion of their high school (or general equivalency) diploma is preferred, however non-graduates may qualify for admission. There are options available for completion of the high school diploma or GED. |
| Academics: | At the heart of the Milestones program is the unparalleled blending of staff mentoring, an adapted version of the CEDU Emotional Growth Curriculum, and life skills training. The result is a structured environment where young adults can safely demonstrate their maturity, grow, and enjoy the process. Designed specifically for young adults who are voluntarily participating in the program, the emotional growth workshops and discussions build upon strengths and increase self-awareness. Weekly open discussion forums give participants a safe place to grapple with the challenges of independent living -- and celebrate each other's successes. Workshops teach the time-tested CEDU emotional growth tools for recognizing patterns and making positive choices. Participants are supported by the Milestones mentors and a network of community services including clinical support and out-patient counseling. Life skills programming provides invaluable information on useful skills for an independent young adult such as budgeting, menu planning, and time management. Milestones Transitions helps young adults explore and expand options, and provides strategies for living life more fully and joyfully. |
