Ages:9-21
Gender:Boys Only
Description:Stetson School serves boys and adolescent males with a history of sexually abusive behaviors. Preventing further sexual victimization is the primary purpose of placement. One of our primary goals in treatment is to provide each child the opportunity to resign from a lifestyle of violence in a safe, rehabilitative environment. In order to accomplish this, we believe in treating the "whole" child, not just his sexually reactive or abusive behaviors. Children are more than the sum of their behaviors, thus treatment must focus on a range of emotional, behavioral, social, familial, and cognitive domains
Director Name:Kathleen O'Connor,
Enroll Info:The referral process can be initiated by phone, fax, mail, or e-mail. Each referral is screened for appropriateness and an admissions worker will contact you within 48 hours. Pre-placement interviews can take place at the location of your choice and a decision regarding acceptance generally takes no longer than a week
Student Profile:Stetson currently treats a population with a wide scope of inappropriate sexual behaviors. These programs include Adolescent Sexual Abusers, the latency-aged Sexually Reactive program, the Alternative Learning Program (ALP's) for cognitively impaired students, and the Sexual Misconduct program
Academics:The academic component is a fully licensed Massachusetts State Chapter 766 approved school for students working at or above their grade level, as well as for students who have specific learning disabilities

Philosophy:Stetson School is committed to the individual needs of the children in our care. Our integrated treatment model is multi-disciplinary and incorporates milieu treatment; individual, group, and family therapy; psychoeducation; recreation; health services; and academics.

Staff:Stetson School's treatment milieu supports our belief that all staff are agents of change. Relationships developed with children are expected to be therapeutic, supportive, and nurturing. Staff are essential in sustaining a "Culture of Recovery." This culture values a healthy, rehabilitative treatment environment in which the thinking and actions of all staff demonstrate flexible responsiveness to children's needs. Unconditional support and management of risk through structure and predictability are also key components. Our staff secure environment provides structured external behavioral controls while the child develops self-control, with the goal of preparing each child for successful reintegration into the community
