Description:Children's ARK, Inc. are residential treatment facilities in Colorado focusing on boys and girls ages 10 to 18, suffering from abuse and neglect and emotional issues. Programs include an on-site psychiatrist, therapy (Masters Level therapist), on-ground schools (Certified Special Education Teachers), and residential modeling. We are: Committed, Trained and Involved in the Success of children placed in our care.

Enroll Info:Childrens ARK provides residential treatment for troubled youth. Referrals are accepted from a variety of sources, including County Departments of Human Services, private pay clients, and others.

During the referral and pre-admission process, every effort is made to obtain complete information, either through previous records or interview with the referring agent, the potential resident and family members. Children referred present a variety of diagnostic problems. Many have a dual diagnosis according to the DSM-IV which may include conduct disorders, ADHD, depression, dysthymia, learning disabilities or induced psychosis and may be experiencing psychosocial disruptions which interferes with his/her functioning.

Some children may require psychotropic medication. Children are educated on site at each of these facilities, except the Pueblo facility which integrates residents into the public school setting.

The admission process is designed to screen for optimal results for the child and to insure safety for the community. Some characteristics of the clients must include the following:

The admissions procedure includes the following steps:

An initial phone call is received from the referring agent by the Site Director. Referral information may be FAXed to expedite the intake process (Boys Ute Pass (719) 684-9743, Girls Green Mountain Falls (719) 684-9519, Boys Pueblo (719) 543-7425),
Screening of written materials such as psychological evaluations, social history and education plans (as per the Colorado Department of Social Services, Staff Manual, Volume 8, Medical Assistance, 8.765.20) is performed by the admissions board. This Board is composed of the Clinical Director, Educational Director and Site Director, who meet weekly to review referrals.
Emergency staffings can be accommodated.
An intake interview with the child at the facility, or at his/her current placement (this step can be modified in case of emergency placement needs, and
An initial intake including an orientation to the program. A complete information packet is expected by time of admission.
Intake packets are provided to the referring agent. If the referring agent chooses to complete the entire packet prior to admission, the process takes only a few minutes. For the admission process to be successful, the following information must be completed:

A completed Colorado Client Assessment Record (CCAR) with an appropriate level
designation (Level of Care: A, B, or C).

A completed DHS, Child Welfare Services, Medical Passport.
A copy of the child�s Birth Certificate and Social Security Card (or SSN if the card is not available).
A copy of the most current Medicaid Card.
A copy of current medication orders and/or prescriptions.
A copy of the current Individual Education Plan from the child�s school district of
jurisdiction along with evidence that the school district has been notified of place-
ment (including the name and phone number of the home school district contact person).


Student Profile:Problem types served: Post Traumatic Stress, Major Depression, Dysthmyia, Attachment Disorders, Attention Deficit Disorders, Impulse Control, Oppositional Defiant Disorders, Conduct Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Victims of Emotional, Physical and Sexual Abuse, Parent-Child Problems, Substance Abuse, Learning Disorders
Academics:Educational Services - Green Mtn Falls & Ute Pass

CDE Accredited On-site School Supervised by a Masters level, Colorado licensed, Educational Director. Teachers have Colorado Master's level teaching certification in Special Education. Class sizes do not exceed 12 students per Teacher and Teacher Assistant.
Educational services include:

Special Education remedial instruction with Individualized Educational Plans.
Regular education classes which are academically challenging.
Individual speech therapy by a Colorado Licensed Speech Therapist.
Classes designed for transition back to public school programs, with transferrable academic credits.
Students who are emancipating from our program are given the option to complete the GED test.

Educational Services - Pueblo Public schoolDistrict #60, either in a traditional setting or in an alternative school.

Meetings are scheduled with Pueblo School District personnel to determine the "best fit", with the greatest likelihood of success.
Residents are transported, either by Childrens ARK employees or by school bus, to and from the schools premises.
Youngsters living at this facility are encouraged to participate in approved extracurricular activities available from the local school district

The educational needs of the residents of Childrens ARK at Pueblo are provided by Pueblo
Counseling:Clinical Services - All Locations
Quality on-site therapeutic services are an essential component of the services a child receives. On-site Psychiatrist, MA. & Ph.D. level therapists are supervised by a licensed clinician.
Clinical services include:

Psychiatric evaluations.
Individual therapy - minimum 1 hour weekly with assigned therapist.
Group therapy - formalized group therapy a minimum of twice weekly.
Offender specific treatment by a licensed Clinical Social Worker
Drug and alcohol specific treatment by a CAC certified therapist.
Case management, crisis intervention, psychiatric evaluation and regular medication management
Family therapy, scheduled according to the individualized needs of families
Campus:Childrens ARK at Pueblo is located in central Pueblo, just 1-1/2 blocks from one of the local high schools.

Childrens ARK - Ute Pass & Green Mountain Falls are located just off of US-24 near Green Mountain Falls & Cascade, between Colorado Springs & Woodland Park, CO
Family Involvement:Family therapy, scheduled according to the individualized needs of families
Length of Stay:Determined by staff for each individual student.
Philosophy:The desire and number one goal of this program is to see disenfranchised children integrated back into society as healthy functioning adults.

There is a significant failure rate if children are not given ample opportunities to practice new behavior skills and new life skills prior to being returned to sometimes stressful living conditions. Childrens ARK at Pueblo fits into a unique niche in the continuum of care available for these at-risk youth.

The residents of this program are provided the opportunity to try a less restrictive educational/residential environment while being taught transition and emancipation skills. Residents of this residential home live as a family, with dedicated residential staff
