| Student Profile: | The decision to place your child in a program outside the home, perhaps far away, is very difficult and must be made carefully. It is, however, the difficult decisions that yield life-changing results. If your child is on a self-destructive path, tough choices must be made to bring them back. We have helped many teenagers suffering from a variety of problems including: - Depression - Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) - Using Drugs/Alcohol - Lack of Respect - Hostility towards family - Violence - Skipping School - Irresponsibility - Lack of Motivation - Low Self-Esteem - Becoming Withdrawn - Falling with the wrong crowd - Unmanageable Behavior |
| Academics: | Academics are very important to your teen's recovery process. Problems in the classroom are usually indicative of problems elsewhere. Bad grades lead to low self-esteem and teens with low self-esteem often look to compensate by using drugs which leads to more bad grades and lower self-esteem in a self-propelling cycle of destruction. These issues must be addressed if your teen is going to fully recover. By making a commitment to academic success, your teen is making a commitment to himself and gains the resolve to overcome challenges. We have a distinct advantage over traditional High Schools and Junior Highs in that our students don't leave at the end of the day. Our educational program extends beyond the classroom so that "learning" doesn't stop at the sound of a bell. We emphasize individual attention and personal tutoring so that difficult areas can be mastered. What was once a source of anguish and dread will become a mark of accomplishment and a source of new-found confidence. We offer a variety of scholastic options and can provide High School credits through any number of Independent Study Programs. We will also work with your child's Junior High or High School to provide academic materials that will not only keep your child on track, but help him to get ahead. |
| Counseling: | Upon arrival at Resolution Ranch, your teen will undergo an evaluation with a licensed therapist. The therapist will design and implement an individual plan of therapy suited to your teens needs. Throughout your teen's stay at Resolution Ranch, he will meet with the therapist on a regular basis as his progress is reassessed and updated constantly. |
| Campus: | Away from the noise of the modern world, our natural setting is the perfect place to quiet our minds and witness the miracles around us. Your teen will receive instruction in horticulture, learning to garden and nurture growth in living things. We also utilize our 450 acre ranch for camping trips and wilderness adventures that will demonstrate the possibilities of teamwork and community. |
| Length of Stay: | average 6 months |
| Philosophy: | The Philosophy of Resolution Ranch is based on a commitment to personal growth through change, honesty, trust, experiencing nature and people helping people. We employ this philosophy in all of our day to day activities in this program. We are a family- a group of people involved in the total sharing of our lives. We know that change happens as a result of meaningful sharing and honest relationships. We also know that growth in the areas of honesty, trust, improved relationships, responsibility and stress management will reduce your dependence on unmanageable behavior, thus increasing your child's ability to find joy and fulfillment in his life. |
| Staff: | Counselors live with the residents and supervise them 24 hours a day. They are the first to respond when your teen behaves inappropriately. They act as immediate mentors and role models and will be your primary contact for your regular progress reports. |
| Specialties: | The 12 Steps: Our modified 12-step program utilizes the strengths of the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous as they are apply to teens. 12 Step programs have long offered a spiritual answer to those seeking help with the hardships of addiction. The R.A.N.C.H. Experience: The R.A.N.C.H. experience is the level system through which residents must progress in order to graduate our program. It emphasizes 5 concepts for study during each level and each of these concepts requires an activity or response writing that is read and evaluated by a counselor. Each level is designed to increase your teen's powers of introspection and rational self-evaluation. |
