Gender:Boys Only
Description:We have developed this program at the many requests of parents seeking help for their troubled youth. Like most parents you are probably looking for a program that will treat your child with respect, while helping them learn to respect themselves and others. Many parents like the discipline and structure that a military school has to offer but are concerned about the "drill instructor variable." Basically this means that a drill instructor may be too aggressive or verbally abusive for a youngster to handle. There are many stories in the news of drill instructors allegedly abusing students in their care. We believe that we have the best of both worlds, the military structure and discipline, without the "in your face" drill instructor. The students will live very much like they are in a military school, but will be responsible to their peer group rather than an adult leader. Programs that are using the peer culture program have seen dramatic changes in their students and are amazed at the way the youth reach out to help each other. Adult leaders will monitor the behavior and progress of each cadet and will always be there to see that everyone is treated fairly.

Academics:Academics

Students admitted in summer 2005 will not begin traditional academic work until the first week of September. During the summer of 2005 cadets will be involved in local service projects, the c.a.r.e.s. program (dog training), and other experiential, type activities associated with this part of the country. For more details contact us. There may be school credits issued for the activities accomplished during the summer depending on how long the student participates in them.

When students arrive at Tipton Military Style Academy they typically have not been doing very well in school and many are behind in their school work. The major part of the day is spent doing school work; each student will have to complete their assignments with at least a "B" or 80% proficiency to move to the next assignment. This will help when the child is ready to come home and make the transition back into life at home, and their previous school. School work is accredited through the Waconda School District 272, and the Smoky Hills Education Service Center www.smokyhill.org . This is an advantage over other schools of this type. Academics transfer very easily from one school district to another with no worry about the acceptance of curriculum from an outside education source. School work will be done mostly on line, with the assistance of a teacher in the classroom. There will be one computer for every two students.

When your son returns home he should be back on track academically, maybe even a little ahead of where he is supposed to be. Of course there are exceptions to every rule and there is a small percentage of youth that will never make changes. There are also those who will go beyond what is expected.

We have certified and licensed teachers on staff to assist your son with his school work. If he doesn't succeed we don't succeed.
