Our facilities offer comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation services including residential inpatient treatment as well as outpatient programs and aftercare. We pride ourselves in providing the greatest possible opportunities for emotional, mental, spiritual and physical growth so we have developed physical exercise programs including yoga and other independent activities, spiritual activities such as meditation and prayer time (if desired) and other such activities. We have medical facilities on hand as well as other offsite resources as well. At SRC we believe that a safe environment is essential and uppermost in the beginning days of recovery. |
| Counseling: | The ADD/ADHD Track at Spencer Recovery Centers has been designed in such a way that ADD/ADHD and addiction can be treated simultaneously. In some cases drugs and alcohol have been lifesavers for people suffering from ADD/ADHD in that they help slow down the incessant thoughts in the brain and the activity of the body. However, drugs and alcohol are not a long-term solution and usually the ADD/ADHD person becomes too involved and thus addicted. Just accounting for one or the other, ADD/ADHD or addiction, is not enough and no real recovery or serenity can be attained. When a person comes to our facility, they go through the intake process during which a medical specialist discusses all problems, feelings and symptoms they are having related to both issues. After the intake process, a treatment program is created for the individual, which focuses on addiction and ADD/ADHD both together and separately. We also understand that in the real world, ADD/ADHD is not always given consideration, so we also help the individual move back into the world with coping plans and skills. During treatment the client will attend group counseling sessions as well as individual sessions during which specialists will help them find ways to deal with their problems more effectively. The client will also be educated on the ways in which ADD/ADHD affect their lives and those who love them and they will learn how to socialize and communicate in both comfortable and uncomfortable settings. By using the 12-step Program as a model of recovery, the individual will be given a plan for living, which can be used in daily life. Our program also takes aftercare and medication into account |

| Philosophy: | At the ADD/ADHD Track of Spencer Recovery Centers (SRC), we believe that it is important to give care that is not only of exceptional quality, but also care that attends to each individual’s needs. We want to make clear that the initial stages of recovery may be painful and uncomfortable, but the rewards are innumerable. For a person who has suffered from ADD/ADHD and addiction, imagining life any other way is almost impossible, but it is. At SRC we are dedicated to finding a treatment path that works for each of our clients, not only during their stay but when they return to the larger world. Many people with ADD/ADHD and addiction have told themselves that they will never get better, or have already decided that no treatment program will work for them. Still worse, they may be slowly trying to kill themselves by self-medicating and not dealing with their problems. At SRC first we focus on cleansing the physical body and mind of drugs and alcohol so that spiritual, mental and emotional factors can be taken into consideration. We believe that treating the entire person, not just one or two issues is the only successful treatment process. |
| Staff: | At Spencer Recovery Centers ADD/ADHD Track, we have a team of specialists both from the drug and alcohol program and otherwise that have been trained to attend to the unique needs of people with ADD/ADHD and addiction problems. We have a full staff on 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including medical professionals. When a client comes into the ADD/ADHD unit at SRC, we perform a special intake session, to find out what the exact needs are of each person. Our staff consists of a psychologist, psychiatrist, social workers and other special workers. This team was created in order to address issues that are not addressed in many other treatment facilities. Addiction is an extremely difficult disease to admit defeat over, and coupled with ADD/ADHD it is even harder. Each individual is assigned a personal therapist and is also able to meet with a psychiatrist and psychologist as necessary. We believe that it is important to provide comprehensive care, which not only introduces individuals to the 12-step way to deal with addiction, but also addresses issues around medication and other mental health issues |
