Students interested in the Marine Sciences will find our Field Studies program offers the most adventurous education program with hands-on marine ecology studies, academic credit, scuba training, sailing, 30+ dives, island exploration and community service. Odyssey is a PADI International Scuba Training Facility and includes the most advanced and specialty SCUBA courses of any adventure program. Dive and train for Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, Night, Deep, Wreck, Researcher, Photographer & more. You dive the most with Odyssey! |
| Enroll Info: | First: Select the program and date for which you wish to participate and call Odyssey Expeditions at (800)929-7749. We will discuss your program options with you and confirm berth availability for the program and date selected. Place your $500 voyage reservation deposit either online via credit card or my mail via check. Availability is on a first come basis and we maintain a waiting list. Berths are only held with receipt of deposit. Please note that active exercise-induced asthma is a contra-indication to participation in scuba diving activities. |
| Academics: | Discover sailing, scuba diving, and marine biology. For those without prior scuba experience, this program features sail training, PADI Open Water and Advanced scuba certifications, and marine biology. Initial dive training takes place with small groups in shallow, calm, and clear waters and progresses at your own pace. After certification, explore the spectacular walls, pinnacles, seamounts and shipwrecks throughout the archipelago. You will begin advancing your diver education with exciting night dives and learn about the underwater realm during underwater naturalist dives. Marine biology activities, water sports, and island adventures enhance your voyage. | Philosophy: | Combining an outstanding island sailing adventure and underwater exploration program with a staff of enthusiastic sailors, biologists, and scuba instructors, Odyssey Expeditions integrates marine science discoveries into an adventure of a lifetime. Voyages are dedicated to providing the educational background, underwater exploration skills, and personal talents to help students develop into 'Ambassadors of the World's Oceans.' You and your shipmates take full charge of your sailing catamaran; you explore biological wonders of the oceans and islands, enjoy breathtaking scenes, and hike through lush tropical mountains. You learn to navigate, to hoist the sails, and to drop anchor. You will even be 'skipper-of-the-day.' You earn PADI SCUBA certifications and 'dive-in' to fantastic reefs, historic shipwrecks, and brilliant, coral-encrusted pinnacles. Prior experience is not necessary, these voyages will develop your skills for ocean and undersea exploration and allow you to discover your potential. You will face challenges and exceed your expectations as you master new activities in exciting environments awaiting your discovery. Setting new goals you never thought you would set, and accomplishing them, assures you that we can make a difference in the world and that we may live our dreams! |
