Call admissions department for current tuition.
Serves adolescent boys with a alternative to traditional education. Known as an intervention school that provides a structured academic and behavioral program in an outdoor environment.
Many of our students have exhibited learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity, and emotional or behavioral problems. They have had difficulty focusing on school work and other activities. Their parents may be frustrated by their child's inability to follow through on projects, whether it be a homework assignment or household chore.
Our academic program is designed to meet the academic needs of 6th through 12th graders who present with wide variations in both ability and motivation (usually high ability and low motivation). Through the use of a nationally standardized curriculum, students earn academic credit in all content areas, and courses are transferable to other private and public schools.
Activities include swimin, canoeing, backpacking, whitewater rafting, primitive skills development, basic carpentry, and campsite construction.
Parents, who can arrange for their sons to receive clinical services, such as psychotherapy, receive written (email) updates on their son's treatment weekly. They are also required to attend two of the four Parent Seminars held at the school each year. Stone Mountain alumni are eligible for one year of after-care, which includes telephone consultations and participation in scheduled alumni family adventure outings.
Students live with their peer groups in rustic campsites, supervised 24 hours a day by trained staff.
